Laboratory Proficiency samples

Concrete

Concrete Field Cylinder Specimens - Up to 600 4" x 8" cylinders are created from a single sample of self consolidating concrete. The specimens are cured for 14 days at CMEC headquarters. The set of 3 cylinders are sent 2 day air in special insulated packaging to prevent damage and moisture loss. You are responsible for the remainder of the curing, end conditioning, and testing.

Concrete Laboratory Cast Specimens - You will receive component materials for a concrete trial batch. You will condition the materials in accordance with the included instructions and batch the mix. You are responsible for plastic property testing, specimen fabrication, and compressive strength testing.

Concrete Flexural Strength Specimens - You will receive component materials for a concrete trial batch. You will condition the materials in accordance with the included instructions and batch the mix. You are responsible for plastic property testing, specimen fabrication, and flexural strength testing.

Aggregate

Coarse Aggregate Sample - A sample of coarse aggregate of known grading, is used for Sieve Analysis, Specific Gravity / Absorption, and LA Abrasion testing. Only those tests performed by the client are required. Instructions for sample preparation are included.

Fine Aggregate Sample - A sample of fine aggregate of known grading, is used for Sieve Analysis and Specific Gravity / Absorption testing. Only those tests performed by the client are required. Instructions for sample preparation are included.

Aggregate Base Sample - A sample of material is used for CBR or Florida LBR (FM 5-515). Only those tests performed by the client are required. Instructions for sample preparation are included.

Carbonate Content Sample - This sample is used to determine the carbonate content of aggregate base materials per Florida specification FM 5-514.

Soil

Soil Sample - A sample of a non-plastic A-2-4 material is used for Particle Size Analysis, Compaction using Modified Effort, and Compaction using Standard Effort. Only those tests performed by the client are required. Instructions for sample preparation are included. This sample is also sufficient for calibrating mechanical compaction hammers.

Liquid Limit / Plastic Limit Sample - This sample is solely used for Liquid and Plastic Limit test. The sample may be air dried or wet prepared for the test methods.

Corrosion Sample - This sample is used for corrosion series testing including; pH, resistivity, chloride, and sulfate content.

Hot Mix Asphalt

Hot Mix Asphalt Sample - This sample may be used for Gyratory or Marshall testing. The sample consists of three random individual portion taken from the supply. The sample may be used for Maximum Density, Bulk Density, AC Content, and Gradation.

Masonry

Masonry Units - This sample is used to meet the requirements of ASTM C1093 by method ASTM C140. Six (6) units will be supplied for absorption testing, determining net area, and compressive strength,
